Hidden Gems: The 8th Voyage of Sinbad at IOA

Eight Voyage of Sinbad Stunt Show sign

The fate of one of the greatest theme park shows ever lies under the control of a boy wizard. Through the Lost Continent just around the bend before you hit Hogsmeade is a very special attraction. This fantastic show is pure cheese and full of special effects including everything we love: explosions, water effects and fire!

With explosions, cheesy acting and a fantastical set, The 8th Voyage of Sinbad is pure theme park cheese and we love it.

Universal Orlando describes it as “…a stunt show of heroic proportions! Cheer on the heroes and boo the villains in this spectacular live adventure. See death-defying stunts and breathtaking feats as the mighty Sindbad and his wisecracking sidekick Kabob attempt to rescue the beautiful Princess Amoura from the evil witch Miseria.”

“The action takes place in a spectacular setting – a mysterious grotto littered with the wrecks of ships lured to their misfortune by the evil sorceress. You’ll be on the edge of your seat as you witness exciting battles between the heroes and Miseria’s ghoulish minions, explosive pyrotechnics, and eye-popping stunts including a fiery plunge into the water below.

Harry Potter & The Forbidden Journey Overview

Brad, Nick and Kirby give you some of their thoughts of the most amazing ride ever created: Harry Potter & The Forbidden Journey at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. At the moment, this is the only version of the ride. Universal Studios Hollywood announced they will be building a version, and most recently Universal Studios Japan announced one as well. It will be interesting to see the similarities and differences between all 3.

TIP: Get to the park early in the day for the shortest lines and head straight for Ollivander’s Wand Shop. The line can be over 2 hours for this awesome experience. Harry Potter & The Forbidden Journey loads quickly and the line is half the attraction.

Howdy Howdy Howdy- The other night I had the most INCREDIBLE experience I have had since arriving. I made the realization that our next door neighbour here in Davenport is an INCREDIBLE artisan to say the very least. Now I knew Brian was creating some pretty impressive stuff currently for the Art of Animation Resort at Walt Disney World but as I found out during a cocktail party, he is involved with SO MUCH MORE! Rise of the Hyper-Themed Land

Competition is fierce in the theme park industry, with the major parks spending hundreds of millions of dollars on new attractions in order to stay ahead. The Making of IOA: Marvel Super Hero Island

You could be forgiven for thinking that Marvel Super Hero Island has come to us from another planet. Though not as mysterious as the goings-on at Hangar 13 in Roswell, some of the early creative work on the project took place in a “secret, abandoned” warehouse in Burbank, CA. The island was designed to suggest that it was a ship that had landed on a lagoon in the middle of Orlando. The Marvel universe, with heroes and villains ranging from Thor to Doctor Doom to the Incredible Hulk, is certainly more alien than the family-friendly crew assembled over at Disney–or any other theme park, for that matter. And the island’s centerpiece, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, with its seamless blend of motion-based and 3D technology, is unlike any other attraction on the planet.

Movies & TV Shows filmed at Theme Parks

Everyone has their favourite movies and television shows they like to watch, but one thing can make them even better. Film an episode at a theme park! Nothing makes us happier to see the plot of a show take the cast to a theme park. We don’t really care that it’s a product placement for the park, it’s just plain fun. Here is a list of movies & TV shows that have been filmed in theme parks over the years. We’re not including talk shows and Travel Channel specials, because that would take years! If we missed any, email us and let us know. Continue reading
