So excited to announce we are headed to the D23 Expo in Anaheim! It’s less than a month away. Stay tuned for updates on the most amazing Disney/Marvel/Lucasfilm/Pixer event on the planet!
We’ll also be checking out the Disneyland 60th Diamond Celebration. Fireworks, parades, attractions, food, shenanigans!
We’re back baby!
We had the chance to finally catch this delightful parade at Disneyland over the summer, and we couldn’t be more impressed.
Here’s the official description from the Disneyland website:
Rhythmic beats hit the streets of Disneyland Park! The colorful Mickey’s Soundsational Parade arrives with a chorus of live musicians, dancers, catchy cadences, bold percussion, Disney Characters and whimsical floats that bring to life beloved melodies from classic Disney movies. Continue reading
In case you weren’t aware…memories are very easily triggered by scent. This is why you may think of your mother when you walk through a department store and they spray her perfume. Branding works with all five senses, with scent being the most powerful (check out a blog post I wrote for my former employer all about Scent Marketing). Disney knows this, and that’s why they do things such as pump out the smell of baked goods from the Main Street Bakery and popcorn scent at the Popcorn Carts to attract guests. This isn’t exclusive with food items, even certain areas of the parks have a specific smell, and memories of these areas can be triggered by everyday products. We’ve searched far and wide across the web, and found a fantastic list compiled on Disboards all about everyday products that trigger Disney Parks memories.
One of our favourite smells is when you step off the plane and out into the Florida climate. We just wish we could bottle the mix of heat, humidity and tropical oasis that greets us when we visit our favourite place on earth!
Here’s a great list of products that can take you back to some of your favourite Disney locations:

What other everyday items trigger happy memories of Disney, Universal or any other park you enjoy visiting? Leave us a comment and let us know!
We normally don’t get involved in crazy stuff like this, but it’s just absurd to accuse Disney characters of being racist. The “friends of the characters” can hardly see when they are on stage, let alone clearly treat children with disrespect. Simply, these accusations are crazy and are most likely from people looking for a big payday from Disney. Sadly, the poor child’s picture is now splattered across the media as the debate continues. Great parenting!
Disney just announced Starbucks is coming to the parks, starting with California Adventure. How do you feel about this most recent announcement that Starbucks will be inside the Disney Parks? Leave a comment below and tell us! Continue reading
Everyone has their favourite movies and television shows they like to watch, but one thing can make them even better. Film an episode at a theme park! Nothing makes us happier to see the plot of a show take the cast to a theme park. We don’t really care that it’s a product placement for the park, it’s just plain fun. Here is a list of movies & TV shows that have been filmed in theme parks over the years. We’re not including talk shows and Travel Channel specials, because that would take years! If we missed any, email us and let us know. Continue reading
The D23 Expo is set to take over the Anaheim Convention Center again in 2013. We’ve never been to the event, but we will not miss this round as we hear it’s spectacular, amazing and magical. It brings the best of The Walt Disney Company under one roof. A Comic-Con for Disney Fans if you will. The last event was in 2011, and previewed many of the great new attractions and movies in store for the coming years. For those of you that want to join the fun, tickets go on sale August 9. Disney Parks guests can get the most out of February 29 when Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland Resort in California celebrate Leap Year by keeping a theme park on each coast open for 24 hours of nonstop memory-making fun.
For the first time ever, both the Magic Kingdom Park and Disneyland Park will stay open for 24 hours straight as part of a bi-coastal salute called “One More Disney Day.” From 6 a.m., February 29 to 6 a.m., March 1, 2012, local time, guests can fill the extra day of leap year with a marathon of Disney magic and fun.*
And for 60 days straight – from Jan. 1, 2012 to Feb. 29, 2012 – a daily winner will be chosen in the “Disney Parks One More Disney Day Sweepstakes” to receive a Disney Parks vacation. One entrant each day will win a vacation for four to make memories at either Disneyland Resort in California or Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.**
For the past year, Disney Parks has invited guests to “let the memories begin,” noted Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.
“We’re honored that so many guests have shared their Disney memories with us as part of ‘Let the Memories Begin’, and I’m pleased to announce that the campaign will continue throughout 2012,” Staggs said. “To celebrate, for the first time ever, the Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Parks will remain open for 24 hours on Leap Day, so that our guests can take advantage of every minute of their extra day to make memories with friends and family.”
In addition to the extra time, Walt Disney World Resort in Florida and Disneyland Resort in California will feature a special offer:
- Guests get one more day and night of memory making, free when they buy a 3-night/3-day non-discounted Walt Disney Travel Co. room and ticket package at select Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort hotels. The package offer is good for arrivals most nights Feb. 26 – March 10, 2012 and must be booked by Jan. 31, 2012. ***
In 2011, Disney Parks has encouraged families to “Let the Memories Begin,” with guests celebrating their only-at-Disney memories by sharing their vacation stories, photos and videos online at DisneyParks.com/memories.
